Nadim Yared |
Nadim Yared is a diligent observer. He watches and waits before ever taking his camera out of its case. He immerses himself in an environment, leaves, then comes back to photograph it.
It was through this process that Yared shot each picture in his exhibit Beirut, Paris, Denver: An Inspirational Journey Through Time, on display now at the Alliance Française de Denver, 571 Galapago Street.
Yared's photos are the type you'd expect to find in a Colorado landscapes calendar. His honeyed sunsets and crystalline lakes are idealized versions of what the less-attuned eye sees. It's as if nature pauses for a brief second when his camera snaps: The wind doesn't blow, birds don't chirp, and the clouds are unmoving. A halo of incandescent light fawns upon his subjects, whether it's an aerial view of a beach in Beirut, a Roman aqueduct in France or a chromatic landscape in Colorado.
The gallery will host an artist's reception tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. during the First Fridays art walk. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, go to www.afdenver.org or call 303-831-0304. Yared's exhibit will be on display until February 24; his website is www.album-of-art.com. Through Feb. 24
