On a recent sailing trip, my wife and I were sipping champagne and admiring the sun setting on an empty horizon, when suddenly, a sail boat bearing a US flag, showed up right where the sun might be setting.
We though we were unlucky, with this boat ruining our view, and the clouds started accumulating blocking the sun. Soon after, the clouds started breaking apart, leaving rays of lights hitting the ocean.
I slowly gave my champagne glass to my wife, grabbed my camera, and started shooting handheld. I metered initially on the horizon, but I figured this picture would be more representative of our vision if slightly underexposed, which I did.
Looking now at this picture, I can almost feel the movement of the boat we were on, and the fresh wind smelling the ocean hitting my face.
