I have visited Moab and the surrounding National Parks at least 10 times over the last 5 years, and every trip is another source of amazement for my senses. I cannot get enough of seeing the breathtaking views of red rocks, arches, cliffs and canyons, extending to the greater infinity.
For the Thanksgiving weekend of 2004, we rented an RV and headed down southwest, one more time. Our first stop was in Canyonlands National Park, near Moab, Utah. We parked the RV at the southernmost point in the park, and as the kids were having diner, I setup the tripod and started shooting. Clouds were dense, and while waiting, I was secretly hoping for an opening in the sky that shows the majesty of this full moon rising.
As the last sunrays colored the Island in the Sky cliffs at Canyonlands in shades of red, the opening in the clouds where the full moon rose over LaSal mountains gave touches of color in the sky., The first snows of November perfectly capped the top of LaSal mountains, adding drama to the colored setting.
