Santa Fe, in New Mexico, is like an open-air art mall. Artist shops and galleries run side by side along the narrow streets, most of them in an adobe architectural style, so typical of the southwest.
Northern light, even in the southwest, has a magical twist to it. Soft, shadow less, it has been used by portrait painters and photographers for centuries. This corridor was facing north, the mix of light, the tungsten lamps and the northern open sky light, created a serene atmosphere.
Eyes are framed by the columns, and are directed toward the object that is central to this picture, although not placed at the geometrical center.
